Happy Anniversary, Ice Cream Cone!

Did you know that yesterday (Saturday) was the 107th anniversary of the ice cream cone? I’m guessing that you probably didn’t. Neither did I, until my Mom told me a couple of days ago.

The story of the first ice cream cone is pretty famous. It goes something like this: At the 1904 St. Louis World’s fair, there was one vendor selling ice cream and another vendor selling crispy, wafer-like waffles. The ice cream was selling so well that the vendor ran out of dishes. The waffle vendor quickly rolled one of his waffles in the shape of a cone and gave it to the ice cream vendor to fill with ice cream. It was a smashing success and the ice cream cone was born!

Mom, who delights in finding reasons to celebrate, bought some ice cream and waffle cones and we had a family ice cream party! Here are some pictures of our fun time:

If you’re willing to celebrate a day or two late, why not have your own ice cream party?!  :-)

So fun to see all of your wonderful smiles again. How fun to have your very own ice cream party celebration! I remember that y’all were the ones that introduced us to Nelson’s ice cream…yum!

    Soli Deo Gloria! Love,

    Hannah
