Family Roundup Party

On Saturday we went to a large family “roundup” hosted by some friends of ours. It was a big party to get like-minded families together. There were about 200 people in all. It was so much fun! But it was one of those times that I didn’t bring my camera, and was disappointed to find out how many good pictures I could have gotten! :( Oh well, it was so fun I’ll just write about it instead.

Probably the highlight for Mom and Daddy was the couples’ relay. Here’s how it worked: a husband and wife were one team. Four teams raced at the same time. First, the wife had to go and get a hat, bandana, and vest out of a basket and quickly put them on her husband. Then he would run and get a spoon and plastic cup. He had to dig a well big enough to set the cup in. Then he would run and try to shoot a can with a rubber band gun. This was the most difficult part. And finally, he had to drag a 50 pound sack back to his wife. Meanwhile, the wife had to put on an apron while holding a baby doll in one hand. Then she would shake a jar of whipping cream into whipped cream. When her husband returned, the couple had to eat a scone with the cream as fast as they could, and then kiss and holler that they were done.

It was so funny to watch the couples race. Mom and Daddy won! The timer later told me that Daddy was the fastest man to shoot a can with those rubber band guns! They also got the award for the most romantic kiss! :)

There were lots of games, including archery, knife throwing, obstacle course, and sling shot shooting. We were the “knock-em-down Nobles”, because we facilitated the sling shot game. Austin and Jonathan won lots of prizes, and I won a jar of M&M’s for correctly guessing the quantity. Wesley and I played volleyball to our hearts’ content with several other kids. It was one of my highlights!

After a great dinner, we square danced until pretty late at night. We all had a blast!
Side note: Wesley said the party was a hoot!  :)

Have a great Monday!
